Case Study: NCCP

The National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP) is the nation's leading public policy center dedicated to promoting the economic security, health, and well-being of America's low-income families and children. NCCP uses research to inform policy and practice with the goal of ensuring positive outcomes for the next generation. It promotes family-oriented solutions at the state and national levels.

In 2001, NCCP had a simple website, developed and maitained using static HTML pages. The site had become unmanageable, and with the addition of a major new project, LIFT, NCCP made the decision to redesign their site and implement a content management system.

in a competitive RFP process, NCCP selected Clever Name Here Inc. as their vendor. CNH managed the entire relaunch process, including:
  • Completing an information architecture design for the site
  • Presenting designs from three designers, selecting one, and refining it to a final graphic presentation
  • Programming over 50 page templates representing over 2000 pages of content
  • Implementing a content management system (SPS) and providing training and support
  • Customizing the CMS to support a complex and highly relational database of policy, demographic, and economic data
  • Implementing several custom-programmed data query "wizards" built against the database
  • Providing documentation, stylesheets, and training for technical staff
The project was completed on schedule and under budget. NCCP continues to use and extend the system we developed.
